I would write songs and start playing them in my room. I would spend my allowance and my time in a guitar store, buying all the equipment I could." When Schulman was 19, he met his future wife, Mary Beth. "She was from a very wealthy family and very beautiful, and I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, but she was also a bit of a hellcat. She definitely wasn’t going to put up with my bullshit," he said. "I was very naïve and very much in love. I was her first real boyfriend, and I thought that we were going to get married and live in Manhattan together."
